Ilkay Gundogan’s agent denies rumors of Galatasaray move:
Recent reports from Turkey claimed that Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan was preparing for a potential move to Galatasaray. The rumors stated that Gundogan and his agent brother Ilhan met with representatives from the Turkish club. However, Ilhan has denied these claims, insisting the reports are untrue.
“The stories in the media lately about Ilkay do not reflect reality,” Ilhan told Mundo Deportivo. “I did not meet with anyone from Galatasaray before the Bayern Munich match to discuss Ilkay.”

“There have been no developments, meetings or anything brought to us in this regard. I want to make this clear – neither I nor Ilkay can understand where these rumors started. Ilkay is very happy at Barcelona and is focused on achieving his goals there,” he added.
Gundogan joined Barcelona just last summer on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester City expired. He quickly became a key player under Xavi, starting all 13 La Liga matches so far this season. The 33-year-old German international has contributed 3 goals from midfield in those appearances.
Xavi agreed with Gundogan’s critique about needing to show more character, but noted the German is still adjusting to Barcelona’s culture. Xavi reiterated that conformity is not part of the club’s DNA – there is a demand for excellence and victories. The dressing room discussed Gundogan’s interview remarks and there is no ongoing issue (via ESPN).
According to sources close to the club, Gundogan’s competitive spirit has been a positive influence on the squad despite the relatively controversy after his comments. His leadership and desire for improvement have inspired young talents like Gavi and Pedri.
The El Clasico loss was due to mistakes and a lack of concentration, not effort, according to Xavi. He and Gundogan are aligned that improvements are required, but there is no controversy between them.
Gundogan’s agent also made clear that the midfielder is committed to Barcelona for the long-term, despite the recent rumors. At 33, Gundogan likely only has a couple more prime years left, but intends to make them count by winning trophies with the Spanish giants.
As this is a start of a season they have time to improve and rectify their past errors. Getting him from Man City will have a major boost in thier midfield, as he was one of the key players that played an important role to a treble triumph last season.
Currently he made 20 appearances and scored 2 goals with Barcelona.
He has played a total of 421 matches and scored 82 goals in his lifetime.
Beyond this season, Gundogan’s veteran presence and winning mentality could prove crucial to getting Barcelona back to the heights they once dominated. While these Galatasaray rumors have been overturned for now, it’s clear Gundogan has no intends to leave Barcelona for now.
