Ronaldo’s game winning Penalty:
Al-Nassr secured their place in the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory over Al Shorta on Wednesday. The only goal of the match was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after Sadio Mane was fouled inside the penalty area.
Al Nassr dominated possession for much of the match, but they were unable to create many clear-cut chances until the second half. Ronaldo had a chance to open the scoring in the 52nd minute, but his shot was saved by Al Shorta goalkeeper Ahmed Fadhil. Stats
Al Nassr were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute when Faisal Jasim Nafil Al Manaa brought down Mane inside the penalty area. Ronaldo stepped up to take the penalty and he coolly converted it to give Al Nassr the lead.
Al Shorta tried to push for an equaliser in the closing stages of the match, but they were unable to find a way through the Al Nassr defence. The Saudi Arabian side held on to their lead to secure a 1-0 victory and a place in the final.
This was Al Nassr’s second victory over Al Shorta in this year’s Arab Club Champions Cup. They also beat the Iraqi side 2-1 in the group stage. Al Nassr will now face Al Shabab in the final on August 17, 2023.
Al Nassr have a good record against Al Shabab in recent years. They have won three of their last four matches against the Saudi Arabian side. Al Nassr will be confident of winning the final and becoming the first Saudi Arabian club to win the Arab Club Champions Cup since 2000.
